A Mini Comedy Skit

Characters:

Bethany – The dramatic best friend
Larry – Bethany’s boyfriend, terrible at keeping secrets
Shara – Bethany’s “ride or die” BFF… or so she thought

The Living Room – “Suspicious Behavior”

(Bethany walks into the room. Larry is whispering into his phone, clearly nervous.)

Larry: (whispering) Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry. She has no idea. We’ll be out before she even wakes up...

Bethany: (suspicious) Out WHERE before I wake up?

Larry: (jumps) AH! Bethany! I was just—uhh—practicing my lines! For a… role. In a... spy movie! Yeah! I’m a spy now.

Bethany: (narrows eyes) You can’t even lie right. Are you cheating on me?

Larry: What?! NO! Of course not! It’s not what you think! It’s—it’s a surprise!

Bethany: (gasps) A surprise?! Like a proposal?! 😍

Larry: (panicked) Uhhh… yeah! Something like that.

(Bethany screams in excitement. Larry starts sweating bullets.)

Bethany’s Room – “Digital Deception”

(Bethany picks up her phone. Notification from the group chat “🍹 Beach Babes 🍹”. Shara accidentally sends a voice note meant for Larry.)

Shara (in voice note):
"Okay, Larry—remember: no sunscreen with glitter. Bethany will know. And don’t forget my passport. I’m NOT missing Ibiza again just because you packed like a raccoon!"

(Silence.)

Bethany:
…IBIZA?! 😳

Confrontation Station

(Bethany storms into the living room holding her phone like a weapon. Shara is there with sunglasses on her head and a suspiciously cute carry-on bag.)

Bethany:
SOMEONE better start talking or I’m flipping this couch.

Shara:
Beth—listen. It’s not what it looks like.

Bethany:
Oh? Because it looks like my best friend and my boyfriend are jetting off to a tropical island while I’m over here scheduling dentist appointments and crying over expired oat milk!

Larry:
Okay! Okay! We were planning a trip… but it wasn’t what you think!

Bethany:
You said that already. And every time someone says that, it’s EXACTLY what I think.

Shara:
We were planning… a trip for your birthday.

Bethany: (blinks)
…My birthday was three weeks ago.

Larry:
We know. That’s why it was going to be a "Surprise Redemption Birthday Adventure!"

Shara:
We felt bad about forgetting. So we were gonna surprise you at the airport tomorrow!

(They both grin awkwardly. Bethany stares at them blankly.)

The Twist

Bethany:
Okay… I might have believed you. Might. But explain THIS.

(She throws down Shara’s boarding pass from the group chat… which says “Passenger: SHARA + LARRY”)

Bethany:
Where’s MY NAME?! HMM?

Larry: (panicked) It’s on the other one! The one we, uh, haven’t printed yet!

Shara:
Totally. Yours was gonna be, like, a golden ticket moment.

Bethany:
…

Bethany:
You know what? I’ll pack my own glitter sunscreen and crash this “Redemption Trip” myself.

(She pulls a suitcase from behind the couch. Already packed.)

Bethany:
Because I knew y’all were shady. And I never miss a beach.

Airport Chaos

(Cut to all three running through the airport.)

Bethany:
Next time you betray me, make sure you don’t leave your group chat on notifications.

Shara:
Duly noted.

Larry:
Can we at least agree not to talk about this until after the flight?

Bethany:
Fine. But I’m sitting by the window. And I get first pick of inflight snacks.

Shara:
Fair.

(They fist bump. Freeze frame.)

Narrator (dramatic voice):
