Shayla had a feeling something wasn’t right. The late-night texts. The way Anthony's voice changed whenever Amber's name came up. The way he suddenly stopped asking about her and Kai. Her gut was screaming—but she tried to silence it, hoping it was just paranoia.

That hope shattered one rainy Tuesday morning.

Shayla had stopped by Anthony’s house unannounced, needing to drop off some of Kai’s school forms. But when she stepped inside, her heart dropped.

There on the couch—Amber. Sitting with Anthony. Her hand gently resting on his. The look between them wasn’t casual. It wasn’t friendly. It was everything Shayla feared.

Anthony stood up fast, startled. “Shayla—what are you doing here?”

Amber’s face froze. Shayla’s eyes welled up instantly.

“Are you SERIOUS right now?” Shayla shouted, her voice cracking. “This?! This is what’s been going on behind my back?”

Anthony didn’t deny it. He didn’t lie. He just looked at her with guilt in his eyes and said, “I didn’t want to hurt you, Shayla. But I can’t lie anymore.”

Amber tried to speak. “Shayla, I didn’t plan—”

“DON’T!” Shayla snapped. “Don’t play innocent. You knew he was still in my life! You knew we were trying to figure things out!”

Tears streamed down Shayla’s face as she sank to the floor. “After everything I did for you, Anthony… after all the lies I covered, the nights I sat by your side… this is how you repay me?”

Anthony walked toward her, gently kneeling beside her. “I never meant for it to happen like this. But I’ve changed, Shayla. And Amber’s been there in a way I can’t explain.”

The words hit Shayla like knives. She looked up at him, trembling. “And what about Kai? What about our family?”

He hesitated. “I’ll always be there for Kai… but we both know things between us were broken long before this.”

Amber turned away, clearly overwhelmed. Shayla stood up, her expression numb. “You both deserve each other. But don’t expect peace from me.”

She walked out into the rain, sobbing uncontrollably, clutching her chest like it was about to burst.

That night, Shayla posted a cryptic message on her social media:
“You never know who’s holding the knife until you feel it in your back.”
