⚠ “Living Together Again” – The Counselor Just Changed Everything for Anthony & Amber!😱
Anthony sat at the edge of the faux leather couch, his hands clasped together, eyes flickering toward Amber — the woman he’d once sworn to love forever. She sat stiffly beside him, her arms folded like a shield. This was their fourth couples counseling session, and until now, progress had been slow. Small talk. Resentments. Silence.
But today? Today was different.
Their counselor, Dr. Moreno, usually calm and measured, leaned forward with a look that crackled with intensity. She flipped to a page in her notebook and looked at them both.
“Before we move forward,” she said, “I need to ask you something. Separately.”
Anthony and Amber exchanged glances. Amber’s brow furrowed. Anthony’s jaw tensed.
“Amber, step out for a moment,” Dr. Moreno said gently. “I just need a few minutes with Anthony.”
Amber hesitated, then rose and left the room, her heels clicking softly on the tile floor.
Dr. Moreno turned to Anthony. “You told me last week that you feel like Amber never listens to you. That she gave up on your dreams before they ever started. Do you still feel that way?”
He hesitated. “Yeah. I mean... she never believed in the restaurant. Said it was a waste of time.”
Dr. Moreno reached into her folder and handed him a letter. “Amber asked me to give this to you when the time felt right.”
Anthony’s hands trembled as he opened the letter. He recognized her handwriting instantly:
Anthony,
You don’t know this, but I’ve kept every drawing, every menu sketch, every photo of the food you used to make. I’ve been afraid to say it, but I was scared — not of your dreams, but of losing you to them.
I watched you light up every time you talked about the restaurant, and I worried I wasn’t enough. I didn’t know how to support you without feeling like I’d be left behind. That was my mistake. I’ve been trying to fix it ever since.
I’m still in love with you.
Come home.
Anthony didn’t realize he was crying until a tear hit the bottom of the page.
When Amber was called back in, she looked nervous. Anthony turned to her, the letter in his lap.
“You kept everything?” he asked.
She nodded, eyes brimming.
Dr. Moreno stood. “I think this is where I step back. You two have some talking to do.”
As the door clicked shut behind her, Anthony reached for Amber’s hand — and for the first time in years, she didn’t pull away.
They stayed late, long after the session ended. Talking. Laughing. Forgiving.
And when they left the office, it wasn’t to go back to separate apartments.
It was to go home — together.
