Cocoa told Anthony the whole truth about Shayla😱
The Whole Truth About Shayla
Anthony sat alone on the park bench, staring into the distance. The late afternoon sun painted long golden streaks across the grass. He had just texted Cocoa, asking her to meet him — he needed answers. She replied with a single word: “Coming.”
Minutes later, she arrived, her expression unreadable.
“Thanks for meeting me,” Anthony said quietly.
Cocoa nodded and sat beside him, clasping her hands in her lap. There was a long silence before she spoke. “You want to know the truth about Shayla.”
Anthony’s jaw clenched. “Yeah. I think I deserve that much.”
Cocoa took a deep breath. “Alright. I’m done protecting her.”
FLASHBACK: TWO MONTHS EARLIER
Cocoa had walked into Shayla’s apartment to borrow her charger — they shared almost everything. That’s when she saw it. Shayla’s phone, unlocked, with a message thread open.
It was with Anthony.
Flirty messages. Late night texts. Inside jokes that Cocoa had never heard before.
Her stomach dropped.
That night, Cocoa confronted Shayla.
“You’ve been talking to Anthony behind my back?”
Shayla rolled her eyes. “Relax. It’s just texting. Besides, you two aren’t even that serious.”
Cocoa couldn’t believe it. “We were supposed to be best friends.”
Shayla laughed. “Girl, please. Guys come and go. You’ll thank me one day.”
BACK TO PRESENT
Cocoa’s voice was shaky. “She lied to me, to you… to everyone. She made me believe it was all in my head. But it wasn’t. She was playing both sides.”
Anthony’s face went pale. “So she was trying to get with me while telling you it was nothing?”
Cocoa nodded. “And when I confronted her, she made it about me. Said I was jealous. That I was insecure.”
Anthony looked down at the ground. “I should’ve seen it. She always had some excuse. Always tried to stir things up between you and me.”
Cocoa’s eyes glistened. “I didn’t say anything sooner because… I didn’t want to lose both of you. But it’s not worth it anymore. She used both of us.”
A long silence passed between them.
Finally, Anthony looked at her. “I believe you. And I’m sorry. For not seeing it sooner. For not asking you first.”
Cocoa smiled weakly. “You’re not the only one she fooled. But now we both know.”
They sat quietly, the weight of the truth finally out in the open. The betrayal burned, but beneath it was something new — the beginning of healing.
And maybe… something else.
